Use of Skin-Shock at the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center (JRC) |
"I am the mother of a 32 year old autistic person who attends the Judge Rotenberg Center. He has been there for over 10 years. During this time, the school has used the GED program with him. I am very happy to report that it is a complete success!!
My son's behavior consisted of severe self-abuse to himself and also his caregivers. He is also non-verbal and hyperactive. He was quickly in and out of every program that Massachusetts had to offer. His behavior was so dangerous that something had to be done. The GED is the answer! I believe parents have the right to make this difficult decision to use the GED. My son is living up to his potential now. I'm happy to visit him and see well he's doing and how happy he is. I believe this has been a life-saving program for him. With the GED he can live a protected, safe life without the use of drugs and restraint.
